LATEST NEWS
11th October 2002
Extraordinary news! Mark Shaw of top rock band Then Jerico
has e-mailed Adrian! He is hoping to
listen to that old Belly classic, Mark Shaw’s Pants in the near future. Could we be more excited?
Oh, and Adrian has abandoned his
solo album for the time being. When
pushed for an explanation he merely offered up a suggestion that the songs were
“even worse than Emile Heskey on the left.”
Harsh words indeed.
24th September 2002
Well, still no new Belly album,
I’m afraid. However, Adrian has almost
finished his first solo album for several years. It is provisionally titled Listen To This When I’m Dead and
features what he describes as “a jaunty computer pop sound”. Is he going all Britney Spears on us?
25th May 2002
After a long period of
nothingness, we bring you good news! The January recording sessions went well
but Adrian has been suffering from terrible writer's block ever since. Finally,
the lyrics for the new album have been written and 6 songs are now recorded and
awaiting their final mixes. It is hoped that a further 6 will be recorded
shortly and the new album will see the light of day before the end of the
summer.
The songs that have been finished
are Baboons In June, Badgers Badgers Badgers Badgers Badgers, Banana
Harmonica, Peacock Theory (Destroyed By Salsa), My Friend The Messiah and 33
Panthers.
The six tracks awaiting recording
are After Dark In The Safari Park, Drunk In The House Of The Lord, Barbara
Windsor Laugh, All The Fish Cakes In The World, Maybe East Anglia and The
Groovy Gardener.
Hopefully you won't have to wait
another five months for more news!
8th January 2002
A belated happy new year to all
Belly fans (yes, both of you!) There is exciting news to kick off 2002 with, as
well. Adrian goes into the studio on Wednesday (9th January) to record the drum
and keyboard parts for the new album. It is hoped that Paul will be adding his
guitar work in the next few days too, so expect more news shortly.
Some rather sadder Belly news is
that Toaster will not be contributing to the new album due to work commitments.
The ten new songs will, therefore, all be written by Adrian and represent something
of a change of style for the band. The titles are currently as follows:
I Am Peanuts Valerian, Into The
Air, Patsy Kensit In Tunisia, Trouser Suit, Something In The Fields, Half-Moons
Of Happiness, Purple For January, Pink And Tight, Hole In The Ground, and A Lonely Thing.
More soon!
7th September 2001
After something of a quiet period
for the band, Adrian has announced today that work is starting on a brand new
Instone's Belly album! He promises lyrics which are more "funny
peculiar" than "funny ha-ha" and a more melodic country-tinged
sound. The project is provisionally titled Staring At Frogs and further
details will be posted here once they are known.
8th August 2001
The MP3 section of this site now

Tiger Today. Check them out and let us know what you think!
20th July 2001
Check out the MP3 section of the
web site where you can now download 2 songs from the new album. For free!
9th July 2001
Last Wednesday night (4th July)
saw the most exciting event in the long and chequered history of Instone's
Belly. Yes, the lads won the Battle Of The Bands on Hertbeat FM and Peter's
Pony bounded across the airwaves. Many thanks go out to Rhidian, Ken and
everyone who voted for the mighty Belly!
The band will now be concentrating
on getting the MP3 section of this web site up and running. A very wonderful
Canadian friend is giving them a big helping hand, so expect some developments
soon.
5th June 2001
Paul has fixed his CD writer and
the first copies of the new album are rolling off the presses. Yippee!
30th May 2001
Instone's Belly are currently
preparing to enter the "Battle Of The Bands" on Hertbeat FM. The lads
just need to decide which marvellous new song to enter. Paul also needs to fix
his CD writer, but he is confident of victory!
More news soon!
8th May 2001
What a monumental day for all
Belly fans! Yes, the new album has been recorded and mixed! CD copies will be
available shortly and the band will then look at putting many of the songs on
this site in MP3 format for you to download. The album is called Mavis Looks
Like A Tiger Today and here is the official track listing:
1. Plastic Bags 2. Please The
Purple Cat 3. "Poo" Said The King 4. Borrowed Worm 5. Pink Chin 6.
Peter's Pony 7. New Stamps And Coins 8. The Paper Clip 9. I Can Cheesy Spanner
10. Venus (Blasphemy And Onions) 11. Hamsters In Stereo 12. Mark Shaw's Pants
More details will follow shortly.
1st May 2001
Disaster! The final recording
session for the new album was postponed at the weekend. Mansfield sensationally
failed to show at the studio, claiming "work commitments". However,
rumours of an ongoing cheese addiction cannot be ruled out. Mansfield's
previous battles with the "hard stuff" are well documented and certain
eyewitnesses have reported that he still enjoys the odd slice of cheddar now
and again. Remember kids ......... JUST SAY NO!
On the brighter side, the session
has been re-scheduled for Sunday May 6th.
23rd April 2001
Great news for all Belly fans! A date
for the final recording session has been fixed for Sunday April 29th.
The new album, Mavis Looks Like A Tiger Today should then be mixed in
the next week or so and the first copies can be run off. The band will then
turn their attention to getting the MP3 section of this site sorted so that all
you Instone's Belly nuts out there in cyberspace can download their groovy new
material.
The last 7 songs to be recorded
have been confirmed as the following:
Mark Shaw's Pants, Peter's
Pony, Pants Rotation (or My Favourite Pants - the title is currently undecided!), New
Stamps And Coins, The Paper Clip, I Can Cheesy Spanner and Venus
(Blasphemy And Onions Please).
More news as soon as it becomes
available.........
4th April 2001
The completion of the new album, Mavis
Looks Like A Tiger Today is getting very close. Only Paul's fretwork
remains to be recorded and this will be done as soon as a convenient date can
be found. The last few songs will then be mixed onto the laptop by Adrian and
CD copies of the album will then be available. It is hoped that further MP3
files will be accessible from this site shortly after that. At present the
album is a stonking 14 tracks of Belly brilliance but the exact track listing
is subject to some last minute dithering by Adrian!
Songs that will definitely form
part of the new magnum opus include: Please The Purple Cat, Plastic
Bags, Borrowed Worm, New Stamps And Coins, Mark Shaw's
Pants, Peter's Pony, Hamsters In Stereo and Pink Chin.
I don't know about you lot, but I can hardly wait!
